Hydrogen geological setting

Natural hydrogen is often found with natural gas, it is a component of natural gas but usually in low concentrations. Its origins are deep seated and related to mantle degassing, so it is often found associated with helium. There are additional geological circumstances that allow greater quantity of hydrogen generation and these relate to past subduction and alteration processes.
